OPEN DOORS

In our service today we will be hearing from Tim Reid who works with Open Doors Australia.

[Open Door’s] mission is to strengthen and prepare Christians living in persecution, and to mobilise the Australian church to identify with the global body of Christ.

Open Doors work in over 70 countries supporting Christians who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus.

In The Field: Open Doors work through local partners and build long-term relationships in over 70 countries around the world. They partner with people who know and understand what is needed to see the church strengthened and the gospel proclaimed. Their mission is to help the local church transform their nation for Jesus.

In Australia: Open Doors partner with Christians and local churches in Australia. Your support enables believers living in some of the darkest places on Earth to be a light for Christ. Their mission is to make sure that the persecuted church is remembered in every church, every Bible study and every home.

CROSS & CROWN YOUTH - CAMP REWIND

Thank you for your support of our Youth Camp at El Shaddai Camping Centre over the long weekend. We wouldn’t have been able to run the camp without your financial support and prayers. We ended up with 35 people attending camp, which was the exact number of people we needed without extra costs, and the amount of money donated by the church was enough to cover all of the extra costs.

We felt very blessed to see how the Lord provided so richly through the support of the church family at Craigmore.

We had a great time together playing messy games, giant swing, storm the lantern, an amazing race, and other activities.

We enjoyed times of worship together and being challenged in our devotion time, focusing on if we as leaders could turn back time, what we wish we knew in our Christian walk. We also ran a Q&A session on the Sunday night where the youth had the opportunity to ask questions about God and what was on their heart.

We believe the Lord really used the time away camp to impact the youth’s hearts and attitudes. We are looking forward to how what was learnt on camp will affect their lives and walks with God.

Bulletin l 1st March

PREACHER'S PEN

Jeff Spencer

I was reading in 1 Peter 4 on suffering and found verse 1 a challenge:"He who has suffered is done with sin.”

How is this so?

Perhaps it is because when we go through suffering, life is no longer able to gratify us through indulgence in its distractions. When circumstances rob us of fulfillment we are driven to search for it elsewhere.

This was the experience of whoever wrote Ps 73. In verse 25 and 26 he asks God, "Who do I have other than you in heaven? And there isn't anything, anywhere on earth that I need or want in life other than you!"

If you are struggling under some overwhelming trial at the moment, it just may be that this is exactly the place of enduring fullfillment that God is seeking to bring you to through what you are suffering... It reminds me of a poem that has always arrested me:

When God wants to drill a man,

And thrill a man,

And skill a man

When God wants to mold a man

To play the noblest part;

When He yearns with all His heart

To create so great and bold a man

That all the world shall be amazed,

Watch His methods, watch His ways!

How He ruthlessly perfects

Whom He royally elects!

How He hammers him and hurts him,

And with mighty blows convert him;

Into trial shapes of clay which

Only God understands;

While his tortured heart is crying

And he lifts beseeching hands!

How He bends but never breaks

When his good He undertakes;

How He uses whom He chooses,

And which every purpose fuses him;

By every act induces him

To try His splendor out-

God knows what He’s about.
