Bulletin l 28 April 2019
26 April, 2019
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" 2 Timothy 3:16, 17
The Bible (Scriptures or the Word of God) is the most remarkable book ever written. The writing was done by about 40 men of several countries and many occupations. They wrote over a period of about 1500 years and in 3 languages (Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek). Yet the Bible is a well-organised unity with one great theme and central Figure - Jesus Christ. All of this would be impossible unless the Bible had one supreme Author - and it did - the Holy Spirit of God. "for prophecy (Scripture) never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit" II Peter 1:21
Abraham Lincoln, who was responsible for abolishing slavery in U.S. and was its greatest president, said this about the Bible
"I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Saviour of the World is communicated to us through this Book...All things most desirable for man's welfare, here and hereafter, are to be found portrayed in it"
The Word of God has power (Hebrews 4:12), it is able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ (II Timothy 3:15) and through it the child of God can grow and be eternally blessed. Don't let it gather dust on a shelf. Read it, study it, hear it, memorise it and meditate on it. The great evangelist Dwight L. Moody once said "The Scriptures were not given to increase our knowledge but to change our lives".
CRECHE HELP WANTED
As a church we run a creche during our 10:30am Family Service on Sunday mornings so that parents in the church are able to sit in and be involved in the service while our volunteers keep their babies/toddlers entertained.
But, we need more volunteers to help!
If you are a youth who is 16 and older, a parent, young adult, senior, anyone who is willing and able to help out, or if you want more information about helping out, speak to Esther Meintjes at church or via message (0488 206 516), or email the church office (email@example.com) and we will pass on the message for you.
