Bulletin I 28th October 2018
28 October, 2018
PREACHER'S PEN | Pastor Jeff Spencer
Then Pilate took Jesus and flogged him. And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe. They came up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck him with their hands... So he delivered him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus, and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called The Place of a Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them. - John 19:1-3, 16-18
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. - 2 Corinthians 5:21
24 HOUR PING PONG-A-THON
This weekend (Friday 26th - Saturday 27th October) we held our annual 24 Hour Ping Pong-A-Thon. We had a fantastic turnout and a great time was had by all.
Sponsorships are still open for the next two weeks, so we will update when our final fundraising number have been calculated. If you would like to sponsor the event to help combat slavery (particularly sexual slavery) around the world, you can do so for the next two weeks. Head to pingpongathon.com/craigmore to donate or speak to Josh Blieschke. Thank you.
TWILIGHT FAIR & CHRISTMAS CAROLS
The Twilight Fair and Christmas Carols is just around the corner! On the First of December, we hope to put on a community event to share the wonderful news of the coming of our Saviour. A huge thank you to all those who have jumped on board and volunteered to help make this day possible.
We are still short in our people power though, so if you think you can VOLUNTEER:
1. Pick up a slip from the Welcome Desk
2. Fill it out
3. Return it to the KELLY pigeon hole this week.
(Those who have a heart for kids, please consider signing up for our Kids activities)
If you can’t physically volunteer for the day, but still want to put support the event, we are looking for SPONSORS for some of our activities. We’d love to offer the following activities at a low rate to our community or ideally FREE if possible:
- An Animal Petting Zoo
- A Bouncy Castle
- A Donut Machine
- Face painting and Animal Balloon making
Please feel free to see Amy or Andrew Kelly if you have any questions or would like to know more about the day. Looking forward to serving alongside you all.
CYC CAMP SPONSORSHIPS
It’s that time of year again when Amy Day is looking for people who would like to sponsor campers to attend the summer camps at CYC El Shaddai. It allows children to go to camp who would otherwise not be able to afford to go.
One of our own young people in our fellowship has been able to attend camp for the past 9 years thanks to the generosity of those who have given throughout the years. She has blossomed in her faith and is now giving back and mentoring other young campers coming through. This is an example of how your giving will have eternal benefits.
If you have a child who would like to go, but you are unable to afford the camp fees, please feel free to contact me to see if we can help send your child to camp.
Join us for a church picnic on Sunday, November 4th at 1pm at Harry Bowey Reserve, Riverside Drive, Salisbury Park. BYO lunch, chairs and sports gear. Water and cordial will be provided. All are welcome - we’d love to see you there!
Thursday November 8, 7.30pm at Amy Day’s house, 6 Lachlan Drive, Craigmore
Fiona Emery will be sharing on the topic “Steady in the Storm - How do we face the difficulties in life?” We will be starting with the first of 2 sessions at 7.30, with a supper break inbetween, so it would be appreciated if you could arrive a few minutes early so we can start on time. For catering purposes please RSVP to Amy on 0402 279 277. Thank you.
